又到毕业季，"学位服、拨穗、拆伙饭"英文怎样说？

眼下正值毕业季（graduation season），我们来聊聊跟“毕业”有关的那些英文表达吧~

学位服 cap and gown

学位服（academic dress/ costume）寻常就称为cap /k?p/ and gown /ga?n/，即学位帽和学位袍。

但是学位服另有个局部叫hood（兜帽，坎肩），就是披在眼前的谁人垂布。

学位帽最常用的叫法是cap，又叫square academic cap，graduate cap。

不外，“学位帽”另有个幽默的说法：“托泥板”，mortarboard /'m?:t?b?:d/。

好吧，的确有点像……

毕业仪式 commencement/ graduation ceremony

英式英语里，毕业仪式寻常叫graduation ceremony，毕业那天则是graduation day。

而在美国，毕业仪式则通常被称作commencement ceremony，毕业那天除了叫graduation day，也可以叫commencement day。

拨穗 turning of the tassel

cap上谁人穗穗就叫tassel /'t?s(?)l/，流苏 。

通常是校长或系主任，会为每个degree candidate（学位候选人）turn the tassel（拨穗），意味着transition from candidate to graduate。

准确的拨穗姿势，是从右到左，以是下场承受拨穗礼之前，记得把穗穗先拨到右方。

?英式英语里，本科和硕士论文都叫dissertation，博士论文叫thesis；

?而美式完全反过去，本科和硕士论文叫thesis，博士论文叫dissertation；

?paper可以指课程论文，或某个具体研讨在聚会会议大概期刊上公布的论文。如term paper, course paper, research paper。

?essay的涵义较广，既可指几千字的短篇论文，也可以指散文大概杂文。
