英语单词“equipment、device”和“appliance”都有“设备”的意思，那么，我们应当怎样区分它们的不同呢？

让我们通过一段情景描述来理解这三个词的区别。jimmy 刚刚到家，他正准备归整行李。他的新公寓里会有哪些“设备”呢？我们来听一段介绍。

Jimmy just moved into his new flat and is ready to unpack. First, he put away his clothes, his mobile devices, his cycling and diving equipment, and then he put all his books on the shelf. The flat is equipped with household appliances such as a fridge, a freezer, an oven, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a TV, etc.

Jimmy 刚刚搬进他的新公寓，正准备整理行李。他先收好衣物、移动设备，放好了他的自行车和潜水装备，并把所有的书都摆上书架。这间公寓备有冰箱、冰柜、烤箱、洗碗机、洗衣机、电视等生活家电。

单词“equipment”表示“特定活动所需的设备、器械”，是不可数名词。如果想说“一件设备”，我们可以在“equipment”前搭配“a piece of 一个，一件”，即“a piece of equipment”。

单词“device”通常指“小巧的电子装备或设备”，比如“移动设备 mobile device、听力装置 listening device”。“Device”是可数名词。

单词“appliance”尤指“家用电器 home appliance”，比如冰箱、烤箱、洗衣机等等。
