It refers to something happens or comes after all other similar things or people, or the the most recent thing.

它指的是产生在其他相似事或人之后的事变，也就是最初显现的事变；大概表现迩来产生的事变。

Linda was the last to arrive at the meeting.

Linda是最初到会的人。

The last time I met Steven was in August.

我前次见Steven是在八月份。

adj. 最新的；迩来的

It means that something is the most recent or newest.

它指的是某事物是最新显现的、迩来的。

He bought the latest product of this brand yesterday.

他昨天买了这个牌子的最新产物。

Her latest novel is very famous among young people.

她的新书在年轻人之间十分出名。
