前缀 homo-

汉：泉源于希腊语，意“same”，前缀hetero与其意思相反。别的，意为“same”的词根有equ(equivocal,equanimity,equivalent),simil(similarity,facsimile,assimilate),simul(simulate,simultaneous,simulcast),sembl(dissemble,ensemble,assembly),par(disparate,disparage,disparity),indent(identity,identification,identify),tauto(tautological)等。

英：

homo- (1)

word-forming element meaning "same, the same, equal, like," before vowels hom-, from Greek homos "one and the same," also "belonging to two or more jointly," from PIE *somos (cf. Sanskrit samah "even, the same," Lithuanian similis "like," Gothic sama "the same," samana "together;" see same).

homo- (2)

word-forming element meaning "homosexual," abstracted since early 20c. from homosexual, and ultimately identical to homo- (1).

1.homogeneous

adj.of the same kind 同类的 *homo(=same),gen(=birth,kind)

The hill overlooks the suburb of Wake Field and its rows of homogeneous houses.从小山跳望，可以看到韦克菲尔德的田野及一排排样式相反的屋子。

2.homonym

n.word that is the same in form and sound as another but different in meaning 同音异义词 *hom <homo(=same),onym(=word)

Homonyms,such as "read/red".often confuse students studying English.相似于“read/red”的同音异义词，常常使学生在学习英语时产生殽杂。
